In our preschool course the children from 5 to 6 years of age have practised their German skills intensively throughout the whole semester. Their favourite games and exercises were those combined with pictures, movement or music. In the last course session, the children practised German nouns with the help of picture cards. By listening and looking carefully the children learned to name the first letter of every noun, also called “Anlaut” in German. For example H as in “Hund” or I as in “Igel”.
