Preparing for the start of school

Today’s session focused entirely on the topic of school. Together with the course instructor, Emma, the kids discussed starting school. In particular, what the children expect from school, what they are most looking forward to, and what is needed for a successful start into school. Together, a list of supplies was prepared – various items, from pens to school bags, were gathered and discussed.
In line with the upcoming start of school in fall, our main topic was school:
“What are your expectations of school?”
“Are you looking forward to it?”
“What do you need for school?”
Together, we gathered and discussed the most important items we need in school. Afterwards, the children decorated their own school bags artistically. This resulted in many colourful and unique works of art.
We also read the picture book “Der Ernst des Lebens” (“The serious side of life”) together. The story provided a lovely opportunity to talk about feelings, hopes and perhaps even minor worries surrounding the start of school. In a group discussion, the children were able to share their thoughts and exchange ideas with one another.
It was an exciting and creative day at the course, which made the anticipation of starting school even greater.
